Preparatory

With a culture rooted in family, passion, innovation, and care, we create a prep community where children belong and grow – where they aren’t just learning, but designing their own future.

The unification of the various prep schools offers the children of Knysna an affordable, quality, private (IEB curriculum), Christian education – conveniently within their community.

Learning As An Adventure

Built on the solid foundation laid by the respected Riverwood Primary, Forest Edge Preparatory grew from a partnership of several local pre- and primary schools.

From academics to culture, sport, extracurricular activities, and value-added programmes, everything we offer at our prep school is designed to nurture and empower your child. Our teaching staff go above and beyond to build each student’s confidence, while encouraging a sense of personal identity.

The world is evolving. Education should too. Join us and be part of an education that’s built for the future.

Our academic programme is guided by the IEB (Independent Examinations Board) curriculum, which we bring to life with creativity and real-world connections. In addition to the core subjects of literacy and numeracy, our key focus areas are life skills and environmental awareness.

We ensure that our students become strong readers through our Individualised Reading Scheme, which allows learners to progress at their own pace – ensuring a love of reading and comprehension from an early age.

Sport is part of daily life, as we encourage our children to move, play, and learn about teamwork.

We currently offer mini-cricket, hockey, soccer, netball, tennis skills, and athletics.

Cultural appreciation and expression are vital support to our philosophy. Children partake in arts, plays, concerts, and music activities that help them express themselves, find their voices, and to enjoy the spotlight in a safe, encouraging space.

Keep your children safe, sound, and educationally entertained, by enrolling them in our trusted partner’s aftercare programme. Here, dedicated staff lend a hand with homework, and children are given time to play, as well as recharge, after the school day ends.

As a registered ISASA member, we offer a controlled environment where all children feel safe to explore, test boundaries, take risks, and ultimately come into their own – ready for a bright future.
